Strapper Machine
Strapper machines are used to bundle all products, such as foodstuffs, electronic goods, metal parts, plastic sheeting, and more. They are built for high performance, using pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders to expand the two wings, which then wrap around the material into a tight square bundle at speeds up to 60 bundles per minute.
A strapper machine, also known as a strapping machine or banding machine, is a versatile tool commonly used to secure and package goods for shipping or storage. Strapper machines come in various types and sizes, ranging from simple handheld devices to fully automated systems that can handle high volumes of packages. They use strapping materials such as plastic, polyester, or steel to bind packages together, providing an efficient and cost-effective way to prepare items for transport.
Strapper machines can be particularly useful in manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture industries, where goods are frequently moved and require secure packaging. They can save time and labor costs by automating the strapping process and reduce waste by using the precise amount of strapping needed for each package. Whether you’re shipping small packages or large pallets, a strapper machine can be a valuable asset in your business operations.
What is the operation of an automatic strapping device?
In most cases, sensors are used by strapping machines to find the target product or package. The straps are rotated from around the target by motorized spinners or arms after being fed strap materials via a spool or pulley system. Such mechanical, swift action can be incorporated into a production line.
Types of Strapper Machines
The following are the standard strapping machines available in the industry today:
1. Manual Band Strapper
These manual band strappers come in either small electric models or large gas-powered models. The arm is manually operated until it reaches its limit, where it stops and locks in place. As soon as this happens, the operator pulls on a rope that runs through the unit, causing the banding arms to close and the load is crimped tightly.
2. Pneumatic or Hydraulic Band Strapper
This automatic strapping machine runs off either air pressure or hydraulics, allowing for a quick operation. The arms are short-acting but require an operator to feed them with the material being strapped every so often. These types of strappers are readily available in both handheld units and fixed frame models that have integral foot pedals for up-down movement, which usually operates at about 20 bundles per minute minimums.
3. Semi-Automatic Band Strapper
The semi-automatic band stapler also uses pneumatic or hydraulic power but requires continuous manual feeding by the operator throughout the entire strap cycle. These strappers have adjustable tension settings and usually have a foot pedal attached to hold down while the operator feeds material into the machine.
4. Automatic Band Strapper
Pneumatic, hydraulics or electric power is required to operate this type of strapping machine. The automatic band stapler can run unattended for long periods at speeds up to 200 bundles per minute! This unit has its built-in stand and includes an integral foot pedal that allows it to be lifted off the ground slightly, allowing for more efficient feeding of strap spools or bulk strap coils without having to stoop over all day.
Working of Strapping Machine
Strapper is a machine designed to apply the material of roller blinds; it has now become prevalent in the market. Scrapers are not only used for roller blind materials but can also be made from aluminum, etc., which are widely used in the architectural industry.
The strappers have two main parts: upper and lower body. The upper part consists mainly of a guide wheel unit and a side block guide unit. In addition, there is a drive motor located on top of the strapper. And it is then moving up into another place called the idler unit that supports the strip from below while eliminating creases or folds due to tension from being pulled upward by the same wheels that pull the strip across itself.
On both sides of this support wheel, a roller wheel enables the strip to be pulled and flattened. Between these two wheels, one can find a tension unit and an idler wheel that helps to remove creases or folds in the strapline between them. The lower part of the strapper consists mainly of two separate units called the channel guide unit on both sides, which are widely used for different purposes.
One of them is carrying out transportation functions, while another executes support functions during work. Each of these units has its motor-driven roller wheel mechanism with a full-guided equipment slideway for carriage movement.
While traveling, this sliding road ensures it always remains parallel to the next strap being added, guiding all strips along their way throughout each journey past the upper part of the strapper for fast and accurate processing. The roller machine is driven at a fixed speed by the drive unit attached to it, then controls or changes its movement according to the instruction or sequence called schedule selected.
If all schedules required are completed on time, the next step would be the production of strap bands through an automatic cutting system with minimum wasted material. The packing station will pack these strap bands into neat bundles ready for different production processes or dispatch to customers. This can be done manually or automatically, depending on custom orders.

A conical revolving bar with adjustable teeth is clamped on the joint, and through turning a wheel or lever, the wire is drawn tightly together. This tool has been used to secure telegraph wire to telegraph poles for many years, but it is equally efficient in removing metal bands around gasoline tanks in bulk plants.
The principle upon which the tool works consists of cutting the band with a sharp edge while making each turn temporarily holding tools in place around cylindrical forms. It will be seen that this arrangement prevents untying knots in wires near pulleys or sheaves before retaking hold of them. To provide against kinking wires when are wound about drums, care should be taken to place the desired number of coils first on the drum and then slip a wooden block under each primary ring.
An automatic arrangement for drawing wires tightly around A indicates a standard carrying two arms B, which are adjustable longitudinally. Each component takes a ratchet wheel C at its outer end, driven by an eccentric crank D working within an ordinary pulley E secured upon one of the lugs F of the standard. Pulleys G and H are fixed upon these lugs and carry endless bands or chains I passing around drums J and K, respectively.
The blocks L and M, fixed to the ends of levers N and O, engage with teeth on their respective wheels as they revolve. When the rotation of arm B carrying wheel C is revolved, this wheel also rotates. A pawl R riding on the teeth of wheel C prevents it from circling except when arm N or O is being raised or lowered. The blocks L and M are connected by links P and Q so that they move in unison. An iron pin upon each block engages in a hole drilled in the corresponding lever. Hence this pin will remain stationary when the levers move to either limit of their stroke.
Importance of Strapping Machine
Strapping machine is essential in industries, and it is used for packaging purposes which helps to maintain products in place while shifting from one place to another. It also provides reasonable protection against any kind of damage during transportation purposes. Many companies manufacture these machines at affordable prices and customized designs as per the needs of their customers.
Over the past couple of years, the demand for these machines has increased extensively among small business enterprises all over India due to its quick application procedure and high strength material packing method, which reduces human efforts in preparing heavy-duty materials for transportation purposes or sales purposes, etc.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Is It Possible to add options to the machine after installation?
Most choices can be field installed; however, the final cost will probably be higher than if the options were factory-installed at the time of ordering.
- Can smooth strapping be used?
For the most part, smooth strapping can be used. However, the sealing effectiveness of soft straps varies depending on whether they are strand extruded or slit sheets.
- Is it possible to select a different voltage?
Yes, you can select a different voltage. There may be a need to add a transformer to the system depending on the particular change.
- How does embossed strapping differ from other strappings?
There are many advantages to using embossed materials on feed tracks, including increased surface area, reduced friction, and improved feed reliability. These materials reduce strap splitting and dust production when the machine is in operation.
